“In the United States, Jared Kopf is one of the stars of the magic ‘underground.’ When he surfaces in your part of the world, you will understand why. His magic is intelligent and strong. I predict you will like him!” – Max Maven, Master Mentalist
Casting the Spell: Magic as a Natural Phenomenon explores the role of the magician in culture and folklore, from the ancient shaman to the modern entertainer. Each of the five lessons will feature a strong, practical effect of classical magic, mentalism, sleight-of-hand card magic, or even so-called fortune telling. The course will also touch on several theatrical concerns, such as scaling effects, presentation, and audience management.
Jared Kopf performs magic and interprets symbols all over the world. Sometimes, he and a company of wizards create practical effects for live events, films, and TV shows such as “The Eye Ball,” A Ghost Story, and National Geographic’s Breakthrough. Other times, he pretends to be someone else on a stage or in a movie. Once, in Changchun, he found the philosopher’s stone and turned lead into gold. Occasionally, he reads the tarot for free outside a café on Greenville Avenue, just down the street from his home in Dallas, Texas where he lives with the sorceress Elayna Mitchell and their son Martin, who draws people’s dreams in a notebook.
This is live and in real time filled with interaction and not a series of videos.
